EVGENI (EUGENE) ZALUZHNY
b. 1962, Minsk, Belarus
Evgeni started his pursuit of art in the late 1970's after studying photography.
He became active in a photo club that was connected with the Vechernij Minsk
newspaper in 1979. Photography as art started to be taken more seriously by the
younger generation of Russia during this time.
Evgeni participated in many club, Republican and Allied exhibitions during this time.
His first solo show was in 1989 in Minsk. Later he had solo exhibitions in parts of Russia and Germany.
In 2008 he received a Grand prize from the Republican photo competition with his series, My Belarus.
His series, The Last Conscription, was chosen in the Canon juried exhibition in St. Petersburg and also another juried show in Tel Aviv. Another series, Village, was honored at the Photo Biennial in Tashkent,
Tashkent Ale-2010.
Evgeni's portraits of World War II military veterans will be exhibited for the first time in the U.S. at the Dallas Art Fair.
