MIKHAIL DASHEVSKY


b. 1935, Moscow


Mikhail’s early life involved the study of Science and Engineering.

He experienced many things as a child, the loss of a father

through imprisonment, WWII and evacuation. Mikhail graduated

from the Moscow Institute of Engineering and Construction in 1958 during

the time of the death of Stalin and the execution of Stalin’s feared police chief Lavrenti Beria. The rise of

Khrushchev and the “de-Stalinization” campaign, and the Youth Festival created a transforming life experience for Mikhail.


In the late 1960’s Mikhail pursued photography by joining the Novator photo club. He learned about the craft and the art of photography through the club’s discussions by established photographers and intellectuals.


While discovering the world of photography he received a PhD in Science in 1968. He currently works as the technical director of the firm,Vibroseismoprotection.


Mikhail started exhibiting his photographs at the Novator photo club in 1969. But most of his solo and group shows started in the late 1990’s.  His work has been published in several magazines, and is in museum collections in Russia and Denmark.


He currently lives in Moscow.
