This exhibition challenges the view of traditional landscape.
The classical landscape genre in photography has always included Ansel Adams, Carlton Watkins and Eliot Porterto name a few. Landscape ??? approaches this classification in a broader scope that includes social and industrial landscape. Images by Bill Owens in the early 1970s set forth a contemporary view of our new suburban landscape, while John Albok photographed the bustling landscape of New York City in the early half of the 20th Century. William Rittase photographed the industrial landscape for publications like Fortune magazine showing monumental machines performing strip mining.
This exhibition contrasts these images with more traditional landscapes by Michael Kenna, an important contemporary landscape artist. Two NASA photographs are featured which suggests a view of a new landscape.
