Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery

R A N D O M

A Compulsory Summer Group Exhibition
August 11 - August 26, 2006

Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery is making a move to Dragon Street (Design District) in September. In the process of packing we have discovered hidden treasures as well as some old favorites that have not been exhibited in many years. This random selection will be installed on the walls of our Routh Street gallery for two weeks. This will be the last exhibition at our current location.

Photographs include the classic image of Babe Ruth by Nat Fein. This photograph was taken from behind the legend while he faced his fans at Yankee Stadium for the last time on June 14th, 1948.

A lost treasure by Kenro Izu is a photograph of Angkor Wat. This beautiful photogravure shows this exotic ruin in all its majesty.

Two photographs that have not been exhibited before are images by Mississippi photographer, Birney Imes. His series on southern, black drinking establishments became a book, Juke Joint: Photographs by Birney Imes. One image was taken in Arcola, Mississippi at the Arcola Cafe in 1985. The other, from Shaw, Mississippi taken inside the Riverside Lounge, this image is the cover of his book.

There will be an opening reception on Friday, August 11 from 6 - 8 PM.
This will be the last exhibition at the Routh Street location.
