FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Dallas, Texas ­– PDNB Gallery is thrilled to present its first online exhibition dedicated to ceramic art, a solo exhibition by sculptor/ceramist, Robert Milnes (b. 1948, Washington, DC). This will be Milnes’ debut with PDNB Gallery.

Since 1969, Robert Milnes has worked in ceramics, often incorporating a range of materials such as clay, copper, and steel. His sculptures depict strong and colorful figurative and geometric forms. This exciting exhibition, Questioning Cognition, will include various unique earthenware sculptures with textured glaze that depict symbols, mapping systems, and codes found in everyday life.

This online exhibition, includes ten ceramic sculptures created in the last three years, four of which will be located at PDNB Gallery. Video features will be available within this online show.

Milnes, now a North Carolina based artist, previously served in various distinguished positions at notable higher educational institutions. The Dallas-Fort Worth area art world is familiar with Dr. Milnes as the former Dean of the College of Visuals Arts and Design at the University of North Texas. He also served as Professor of Art and Director of the School of Art and Design at San Jose State University, Director of the School of Art at Louisiana State University and as Chair of the Art Department and Professor of Ceramics at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. 

His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the U.S., and can be found in multiple museum and corporate art collections including the San Jose Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, Arizona State University Ceramics Research Center, Erie Art Museum and the Sony Corporation.

This November, Robert Milnes’ works will be included in the prestigious Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, which features over 150 artists and artisans from the United States.

PDNB Gallery has announced its new hours. The gallery is open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11am to 5 pm. An appointment is required for Wednesday/Friday visits. For the safety of our visitors and staff, we require masks and social distancing in the gallery.
